Center for Online Professional Education
The mission of the Center for Online Professional Education (COPE) is to promote student learning, improve teaching practices, and provide districts with capacity-building solutions through the use of innovative educational practices and technologies. COPE provides:
- Support to states and districts to help them develop effective policies and programs.
- Professional development programs delivered online, face-to-face, and a combination of both approaches, for educators and administrators at the school, district, state, and university levels.
- Innovative curriculum materials and professional development resources.
- Research into effective and innovative educational practices.
At COPE, a careful balance between research and practice drives all of our work. We conduct applied research which directly impacts content, instruction, technology and how these work together to impact student learning. Our work supports local capacity building, employs research-based practices, builds learning communities, applies technology to enhance teaching and learning, meets the needs of diverse learners, and uses evidence-based practices.
Highlights
EDC has recently been selected to lead the Northeast and Islands Regional Education Laboratory (NEIREL). As one of a network of 10 such labs across the country, NEIREL will conduct research on new approaches to improving teaching and learning and disseminate proven approaches to educators and policymakers.
