Amy Brodesky is the Associate Project Director for the Addressing Accessibility in Mathematics, Phase 2 project. She is developing professional development models and materials to help math teachers and special educators make mathematics more accessible for students with special needs. The project is working with five partner school districts in the Boston area.
During her 18 years at EDC, Ms. Brodesky has developed a variety of mathematics curriculum materials and software programs. She has been involved in all aspects of the development of the MathScape: Seeing and Thinking Mathematically middle school curriculum. She co-authored the statistics and probability units What Does the Data Say?; Chance Encounters; Looking Behind the Numbers and the geometry and measurement unit From the Ground Up. Ms. Brodesky has led workshops and summer institutes for school districts that are implementing the curriculum.
Ms. Brodesky also developed educational software for the "Exploring Measurement, Time, and Money" Series for grades K-6 for IBM. Prior to coming to EDC, she worked at Tom Snyder Productions, an educational software company. Ms. Brodesky has a Masters in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a BA from Oberlin College.
