Rebecca Carey

Rebecca Carey is an Associate Project Director at COPE. She is currently managing the NSF-funded project Optimizing the Impact of Online Professional Development for K–12 Teachers. She is responsible for the creation and implementation of a professional development intervention for middle school math teachers, as well as serving as a liaison to the research partners at Boston College. Rebecca is also designing an online course in teacher leadership for Virginia Commonwealth University funded by AT&T. Additionally, she provides research and evaluation support and leadership to projects across COPE. Some of her projects include the SELECT Math project for Boston Public Schools, the Louisiana Algebra One Online project, and several Virtual High School Consortiums. Her main areas of interest are research and evaluation, project management, and online course design.

Before joining EDC, Rebecca was an Organization Change Consultant at IBM where she worked on creating a Change Toolkit for their Reinventing Education program. Additionally, she was the communications lead for multiple online communities of practice at IBM and designed and delivered online, face-to-face, and hybrid courses for internal professional development. She taught history for two years at a high school in Western Massachusetts. Rebecca received her B.A. from Vassar College in History and her Ed.M. in Technology in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
