Shawna Young

Shawna Young is a Curriculum Developer and Facilitator with EdTech Leaders® Online (ETLO), EDC's capacity building online professional development program for school districts, state departments of education, regional education service providers and teacher training institution. In addition to facilitating online courses, Shawna works with a team to keep ETLO's 30 workshops up-to-date and in good working order.

Prior to joining ETLO, Shawna worked for six years as a science teacher in North Carolina. During that time, she gained experience in designing innovative science curriculum, writing and implementing grants, developing and facilitating professional development for teachers, and researching effective school reform strategies. As a Kenan Fellow for Curriculum and Leadership Development, Shawna developed an online curriculum guide for teachers that connected earth science content to the state standards and students’ everyday lives. She has also designed and taught an online Advanced Placement Environmental Science course for students in North Carolina.

Shawna holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Howard University and a Master’s degree in Science Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
