About Being a Facilitator
"I've worked with over 50 interdisciplinary teams in the last five years so I've learned that being an effective facilitator is very challenging. What makes it challenging for me personally is knowing when to step in and be a 'boss' and when to step out and to be quiet.I step in when I see that a team is moving in a direction that is unproductive; they're moving away from the inquiry process, away from thinking about the kinds of strategies that will support students. But I step out when they're really cooking, when they're generating good ideas, when they're listening to each other, [and] when they're placing the students' welfare at the center of their conversations."
