Gender, Diversities, and Technology Institute Fellows
The Fellows Program at the Gender, Diversities,
and Technology Institute brings together scholars, practitioners,
and community representatives
in collaboratives to examine the social and cultural issues that
affect the lives of women and men. Fellows bring their field-based
and/or academic experiences to the Institute and engage in a range
of activities that encourage exchange among diverse settings, creation
of new approaches and ideas, and dialogue across cultures, regions,
and experiences. U.S.-based and international Fellows often work
in a parallel manner on similar issues in order to promote cross-cultural
exchange.
In 2002 a number of GDI Fellows participated
in an Inter-American forum entitled the Role of Education in
Preventing Gender-based
Violence, held in San José, Costa Rica. Other initiatives
included development and delivery of an online course in masculinities
and raising boys, as well as development of a project addressing
the effects of violence on women's lives.
Fellows may participate in a Fellow-in-residence exchange at Education
Development Center, publish research or reflections through the
Institute, develop a collaborative project, or initiate other activities
that join theory and practice in work that utilizes a gender perspective.
Most Fellows are unpaid appointments, with such services as publication
of research or use of office space and materials being provided
in exchange for involvement in activities with GDI staff. If you
are interested in applying to be a 2003 GDI Fellow, please forward
your curriculum vitae and a brief summary of a proposed activity
or exchange that you would like to carry out with the Institute
to:
