Preventing
School Injuries: A Comprehensive Guide for School Administrators,
Teachers, and Staff is a recently-published book for school
administrators, teachers and staff that examines how and why
students are injured, both unintentionally and through violence
or suicide. The author provides the motivation, knowledge,
and tools needed to create and implement injury prevention
activities. He also provides the tools necessary to respond
to injuries that do occur. Specific chapters deal with creating
a safe school, emergency preparedness, and preventing injuries
associated with playgrounds, sports and physical education,
vocational education, transportation and violence and suicide.

Building
Partnerships for Breast and Cervical Cancer Management
is a continuing medical education program designed to help
primary care providers enhance the knowledge, skills, and
practice strategies necessary to motivate medically underserved
women to be screened for breast and cervical cancer. Designed
to combine clinical information on risk assessment and communication
skill-building with practical tools for developing office
management strategies, the Building Partnerships package consists
of separate modules that can be adapted to a wide variety
of continuing education settings, time frames, and teaching
styles and priorities. Included with program materials are
slides to facilitate large-group presentations, videos to
demonstrate motivational interviewing techniques, and case
presentations and guidance to facilitate observed structured
clinical interviews.
