Mathematical Themes

Project Director:
Description
Mathematical Themes is a rigorous, coherent four-year high school mathematics curriculum designed to help students develop mathematical proficiency. MT will fit into the familiar four-year high school course structure while maintaining mathematical relevance and rigor and integrating key concepts from the sciences and other fields.

It features

•research based design
•core in iolvement of theoreticians and practitioners in pure and applied mathematics
•a careful analysis of curricula in top performing countries to inform this work
•a focus on mathematical proficiency
•emphasis on connections among mathematical topics and methods
•organization around central mathematical themes and the connections among them

Mathematical Themes is aimed at an audience that has been relatively untouched by the curriculum innovations of the last decade: schools that want the coherence of a program organized around mathematical themes and designed around students' active participation in their own learning.
