The eighth grade unit's focus is primarily algebra, and the connection algebra has with the other content strands. Units at this grade level draw out important algebraic concepts through the relationship between distance, time, and speed, as well as, slopes, angles, and ratios.
Geometry is also a major focus, three-dimensional and analytical geometry are addressed in individual units. Data and probability concepts are deepened as students are asked to develop and evaluate inferences and predictions that are based on data. Although no unit solely focuses on the number strand, number concepts are embedded in all seven units.
