Dr. Caroline Ramsey Musselwhite is an assistive
technology consultant with more than 20 years experience working with children having a
wide range of abilities. She has a doctorate in speech-language pathology with a minor in
special education. She has worked in a number of settings, including Head Start, a
developmental day center, public schools, university teaching, and private practice.
Caroline has written numerous articles, textbooks, and "How To" books, including
Adaptive Play, Communication for Persons with Severe Handicaps (with Karen St. Louis), and
most recently, Emergent Literacy Success (with Pati King-DeBaun). She has also written a
number of software programs for children, such as Poetry Collection 1. Caroline has
presented hundreds of workshops, regionally, nationally, and internationally. She is a
founding member of the board of directors for ISAAC (International Society for
Augmentative and Alternative Communication).
Pati King-DeBaun is
a speech language pathologist who has specialized in communication for children with
severe physical and cognitive disabilities for the past ten years. She has worked
extensively with infant/toddlers and their parents, preschool special needs population in
the classroom setting and school age children with a wide range of physical and cognitive
disabilities. She has written and continues to write and publish numerous articles, books
and software.(Storytime Series) She speaks throughout the United States, Canada and Europe
on the topics of interactive communication, augmentative communication, emergent literacy,
and creativity for children with disabilities. She consults in a variety of classrooms
with children who have a wide range of physical and cognitive disabilities. She is owner
of the company Creative Communicating which develops and distributes materials that
promote communication, creativity and emergent literacy in classrooms.
