Elaine Crowder, Expert Panel and Group 4 facilitator, currently works on the Project ASSIST and LINK US projects at EDC. She has worked as a speech/language pathologist and a researcher in an educational technologies department. Elaine says: " I metamorphosed into an applied linguist who is fascinated by how kids talk about science. I am interested in supporting teams of teachers, science staff developers and technology specialists as we think together about including students with special needs in science lessons. I relish coming to new science understandings, through discussion with colleagues and kids. And I especially enjoy discovering how students ARE communicating what they know-through gesture, pictures, re- enactments, and the fledgling scientific language we all have when exploring new horizons."
