[EDEQUITY]Responding to the WEEA Grant RFP

I am totally stunned that WEEA grants must be fished out of such a very
small
pile of funds. No wonder girls and women go begging for educational equity.
What
is being done to advertise this gaping hole?

Purpose of Program: To provide financial assistance to promote
gender equity in education; to enable educational agencies to meet
the requirements of title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; &
to promote equity in education for women & girls who suffer from
multiple forms of discrimination based on sex & race, ethnic
origin, limited English proficiency, disability or age.
Eligible Applicants: Public agencies, private nonprofit
agencies, organizations, institutions, student groups, community
groups, & individuals.
Applications Available: July 5, 2002.
Deadline for Transmittal of Applications: August 19, 2002.
Available Funds: $842,000.
Estimated Range of Awards: $95,000-$200,000.
Estimated Average Size of Awards: $145,000.
Estimated Number of Awards: 4-7 (The Department is not bound by
 any estimates in this notice).
