OFFICE OF HUMAN RELATIONS
SALARY: COMMENSURATE WITH QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

DUTIES: The University of Maryland, College Park is seeking an
experienced administrator to serve as the Executive Director of
the Office of Human Relations Programs. The Executive Director
reports to the University President's Chief of Staff and has
responsibility for the supervision, coordination, and development
of programs and practices that enhance the University community's
appreciation for diversity of all types; promotes a climate of
tolerance and respect for the rights of individuals and groups;
and assures compliance with the campus' Human Relations Code and
related federal and state policies and regulations. The
Executive Director also provides advice and support to
individuals, campus units and student organizations in this
highly diverse, multi-cultural academic community. "Diversity"
at our campus includes (but is not limited to) cultural, racial,
and ethnic identity; gender; sexual orientation; class; age; and
physical/mental ability.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful
candidate must have a graduate or terminal degree; doctorate
preferred. Excellent leadership and management skills, with a
demonstrated commitment to and record of achievement in the
promotion of diversity. At least five years' experience in the
area of diversity programming, conflict resolution, employee
relations, and human relations. Strong writing, verbal,
interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to communicate
effectively and work collaboratively with the many university
constituencies. Grant writing and grant management experiences
are highly desirable.
