I've listed below the announcement for a major leadership position at
Ohio State University's College of Education. If anyone knows of an

The College of Education invites nominations and applications for the
position of Director of the School of Educational Policy and Leadership
to begin January 1, 2000 or as soon thereafter as possible. Candidates
should qualify to be tenured, full professors in the School. The School
of Educational Policy and Leadership is one of three schools in Ohio
State's recently restructured College of Education, a college that US
News and World Report rated seventh in this year's rankings. The School
is comprised of four sections, each of which has both MA and PhD
programs, and provides service courses for the College and University.
The sections are: Cultural Studies in Education; Educational
Administration and Higher Education; General Professional Studies; and
Quantitative Research, Evaluation and Measurement in Education. The 43
faculty in the school have been educated in a diverse array of academic
disciplines and fields and are interested in educational policy
questions, urban school reform, cognition, teaching and teacher
education, and especially relationships among these areas. Faculty
interests also focus on advancing understanding of instructional
technology, educational organizations, academic leadership, the nature
of educational change, and inquiry processes.

The Director of the School of Policy and Leadership reports to the
Dean. Some of the duties the director will be expected to carry out
are:

a) general administration of the School's programs=20
b) consulting with faculty, whenever feasible, on all policy matters=20
c) operating the business of the School with efficiency and dispatch=20
d) planning with the faculty and dean an increasingly effective program
e) engaging in ongoing formative evaluation of school instructional and
administrative activities=20
f) evaluating faculty annually in accordance with established criteria
and procedures=20
g) encouraging research and scholarly activity=20
h) preparing an annual budget

Review of applications will begin August 16, 1999, but applications
will be accepted until the position has been filled. Application
letters should include research interests, teaching areas and
administrative experience. Please include the names, address, and
