The first Native American woman doctor in the United States was Susan
LaFlesche. Susan was the daughter of the chief of the Omaha Indian tribe.
After graduating from medical school, Susan La Flesche returned to the Omaha
Indian tribe to practice among her people. Perhaps she would be a person to
