1 Coordinator of Secondary Education in Student and Family Programs

Lawrence Hall of Science, the public center for K-12 science and math
education at the University of California, Berkeley, is seeking to fill
three positions in the Center for School Change. Two of the positions are
for Programs Managers for grant-funded programs in Professional
Development: the Bay Area Science Project (BASP) and Science Knowledge
Through Inquiry and Language Literacy (SKILL). The third position is for
Coordinator of Secondary Education in the Student and Family Programs
Department (SFP). The Center for School Change at Lawrence Hall of Science
provides sustained, coordinated support for K-12 schools interested in
achieving long-lasting systematic reform by developing the highest quality
of comprehensive, inquiry-based and mathematics programs.

Responsibilities for all three positions will include :
* Developing and delivering innovative reform-oriented programs for Center
for School Change
* Supervising staff and budgets
* Managing programmatic and fiscal aspects of programs including reports to
granting agencies
* Writing grant proposals
* Representing LHS on a national and international level

Responsibilities for the two Professional Development positions also include:
* Leading summer institutes for K-8 teachers
* Conducting follow up leadership development activities
* Coordinating and developing site-based professional development to urban
  underachieving schools

Responsibilities for the Secondary Education position also include:
* Designing, leading, coordinating and delivering a variety of innovative
services to secondary schools including student workshops, after school classes,
research and internship opportunities, educational technology
* Evaluating, improving and growing 6-12 science and mathematics programs
at LHS

Qualifications:
* B.A./B.S. (higher degree preferred) with a strong background in science
and / or math
* 10 years experience or equivalent working with K-12 teachers and students
* Demonstrated academic leadership abilities managing staff and budgets
* Experience working in diverse and underrepresented communities
* Excellent teaching, public speaking, communication and writing skills
* or the BASP position, familiarity with state and national standards is
essential
  For the SKILL position, deep understanding of literacy and language arts
education preferred.

Full Salary Range: $52,100 -$57,500, depending on experience and
qualifications.
