I am new to this discussion group. I am a high school physics teacher,
teaching the honors and advanced physics courses. At present, 18 of my 37
honors students, and 4 of my 10 advanced students are young women. Over
the past 15 years, I have averaged one young woman heading to college as a
physics or engineering major every other year.

I'd like to learn a little more about the panelists' backgrounds. From the
brief descriptions provided, it sounds as if none of the panelists is
actually a working scientist or engineer. If that's true (I admit to not
recognizing panelists' names), I'm curious why that view was omitted from
the panel, because there are plenty of women scientists who are intensely
interested in the focus of this discussion.
