The staff of The Mid-Atlantic Equity Center is very excited to invite you
to our annual Title IX and Gender Equity Network Meeting on May 8, 2000,
from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. The
focus of this year's meeting will be "A Dialogue About Boys." We are also
pleased to have available the Center's newest publication, Why Boys Don't
Talk and Why We Care: A Mother's Guide to Connection. If you are unable to
attend, you will find book information and order form on our website
www.maec.org.
The meeting place is the Marriott Residence Inn located at 7335 Wisconsin
Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland. Valet parking is available at the hotel, at the
rate of $8 per day. The parking rate for overnight guests is $13. For those
arriving by subway, the hotel is located one block south of the Bethesda
Metro Station on the red line. A continental breakfast will be provided in
the morning and lunch will be served at noon.
As always, the purpose of these network meetings is to give us an
opportunity to have an extended conversation about current gender equity
concerns. We will start the morning with a panel who will introduce issues
about boys and than we will meet in roundtable groups to further discuss
the issues, make recommendations, and share resources. We will then
reconvene the group to share our observations and strategies. Resources and
model programs to work more effectively with boys will also be available.

to invite other people from your district. Those individuals may be health
educators, counselors, parents, or administrators-- you decide.
Registration is limited to the first 100 participants. Please RSVP by
