Ditto, Jan. My son, too, is creative and musical rather than an athlete.
    I
think junior high would be devastating if my husband and I were not
educators and our son has gained an extensive awareness of equity issues.
He tells me which of his teachers don't get it--including the lack of
support females in his school receive by certain teachers or school
activities as well as the mistreatment of boys who don't meet status quo.
What is hard is that other students know that he is an advocate and we
    often
find ourselves talking with the school on others behalf as well as his.

At least someone is raising a voice.
