Dear EdEquity Members:

The Women's Bureau of the U.S. Department of Labor is excited
about a new program called GEM-SET (Girl's E-Mentoring in Science,
Engineering and Technology.) The program provides girls an opportunity to
ask questions using only their first name through an on-line mentoring
listserv administered by the University of Illinois at Chicago. The
GEM-SET program currently links over 400 girls and 125 professional women
mentors from 29 states and the District of Columbia.

If you know girls (age 13-18) who you think might be interested in the
program or if you would like to attend, please contact me at the Women's
Bureau Regional Office at 1-800-518-3585. You may also e-mail me at
cooke-jacqueline@dol.gov.

I would like to extend a special invitation for you and any girls you think
might be interested to attend the GEM-SET Interactive Video Conference on
Saturday, May 4, from 1 - 3 p.m. (with lunch provided at 12 noon) at the
UMASS Lowell School of Education. The Program will provide girls with a
fun opportunity to explore science and technology with girls in Atlanta,
Georgia, Kentucky, Chicago, Hartford, CT, Pittsburgh, PA as well as Lowell.
I have attached a flyer for your information. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Jacqueline Cooke
