I am currently working with the USDOE, Office of Vocational and Adult
Education on the development of a technical assistance piece for states on
the 4th core indicator of the Perkins Act (participation and completion of
students in nontraditional career and technical education programs).
Nontraditional programs being defined as those programs that prepare
students
for careers where one gender is 25% or less of the individuals employed in
that occupation. The "piece" is a literature search of the research that
identifies the root causes (reasons) students do or do not participate or
complete nontraditional programs. The Center for Research in Career and
Technical Education has done and extensive ERIC search for me and I have
done
some internet searching, but as many of you know, the research on this
topic
is old and slim. I have looked at math and science and technology research
and extrapolated the results to be the same for nontradtional.

I am looking for anyone willing to review what I have completed to see if I

am missing anything or to identify research that I did not find in my
initial
searches. Please e-mail me any places you think I should look or research
citations that I should review. If you would like to review the draft let
me
know and I will e-mail it to you.

In advance, thank you to anyone who can help.
Sincerely,
Mimi
