Free Catalog Features Books and Curriculums to Help Teachers Effectively Respond
to Gender Issues in The Classroom

The Women's Educational Equity Act (WEEA) Equity Resource Center at Education
Development Center, Inc. (EDC) has released its 1999 catalog of gender-fair
educational resources, ranging from a middle and high school multicultural
women's history curriculum to a working paper that helps teachers,
administrators, and researchers look at the role gender plays in the application
of technology.

Over 100 curriculums, activity kits, working papers, and digests cover issues
including gender equity; disabilities; history; life skills training; math,
science and technology; professional development; school and community safety;
and school-to-work.

New highlights include:
Raising the Grade: A Title IX Curriculum, which is a collection of fun and
interesting activities that can be used to strengthen student's abilities to
work together effectively across the diversity of gender, race, national origin,
and disability.
A Title IX Celebration Poster, which challenges the viewer to reflect on the
gender designations we sometimes unwittingly assign to occupations, and
encourages both girls and boys to choose life paths based on interest rather
than on gender.

The 1999 WEEA Equity Resource Center catalog is FREE,
and can be ordered by calling 800-225-3088;
or by sending email to <weeactr@edc.org>.

It can be viewed online under "Publications" at <www.edc.org/WomensEquity>.

The national WEEA Equity Resource Center at EDC is funded by the U.S. Department
of Education to work with schools, community organizations, businesses, and
individuals to publish and market gender-fair education products; to work toward
acceptance of all people without regard to gender, race, class, language, or
disability; and to disseminate the latest resources for multicultural
gender-fair education.
