Dear Colleagues! We would like to announce the FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME
    2000/2001
(submission deadline 31st of May) of the Institute for Advanced Studies
on Science, Technology and Society in Graz.
We offer six grants for fellowships starting October 1st 2000 for
    investigating issues of:

SOCIALLY AND ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND TECHNOLOGY DESIGN

TWO GRANTS: TECHNOLOGY - GENDER - EDUCATION
A main research focus of the grant scheme concentrates on addressing
issues of gender relations within science and technology. A particular
emphasis lies on the analysis of the possibility of involving women in
developing, designing and utilising technology and the promotion of
girls and women in technology education programmes.

TWO GRANTS: TECHNOLOGY POLICY - TECHNOLOGY DIFFUSION -
    SOCIAL SHAPING OF TECHNOLOGY
These grants are awarded for research projects concerned with
measures of technology policy contributing to a socially and
environmentally sound technology design and for projects investigating
social conditions and learning processes that promote the
dissemination of socially and environmentally sound technologies.

    TWO GRANTS: TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT
The assessment of the social and ecological consequences of
technologies and the anticipation of possible risk potentials represent
the second focus of the grant programme of the Institute for Advanced
Studies on Science, Technology and Society. A social science research
perspective is required for receiving a grant for this research topic.

The grant application must be submitted until May 31st 2000 along with
an application for a fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Studies on
Science, Technology and Society. Prof. Arno Bammé decides on the
awarding of fellowships and grants after consulting the Scientific
    Advisory Board.
