I appreciate any and all of you putting out postings that correct
misinformation as well as out and out lies. The "missing final
report" which apparently has been offered to Dr. Sommers on numerous
occasions, is a good example of how such stories take on a life of their
own. This is not a conservative vs. liberal issue. It is a matter of
honesty and integrety. I hope that many of you will take the opportunity
to express your anger and disappointment at THE ATLANTIC MONTHLY for
allowing such inaccuracies to be printed in their publication.
This whole affair reminds me of a wonderful film from the sixties, now
available as a video rental, and one which I highly recommend to some
of the younger members of this listserv who may not remember the "red
menace" fears of that time. It is called THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE and the
senator in that film is like the prototype character for those among us
who play fast and loose with the facts.
