Responding to Kathleen Cochran, <CochranK@aol.com>: (see question below)

My business partner, Brian Koenig, and I have seven surveys
designed to assess attitudes and behaviors for acceptance of diversity in
K-12 schools. There are four for students: one for grades 2-3, one for
grades 4-5, middle school, and high school. We also have 3 for adults: one

for administrators, one for parents and other community members, and one
for
teachers and support staff.

The surveys were developed with the oversight of a national advisory
committee of equity and evaluation experts, and have been validated and are

reliable (though the one or grades 2-3 is less reliable given the age of
the
kids). They have been piloted in several Wisconsin schools and are in use
in
about a dozen school districts right now. We intend to market them
nationwide in summer.

If you send me a fax number, I will send you a one-page description. We
also
have preview copies available via mail (not yet online, but we should have
those eventually). Call if you have questions.

A colleague of mine is working with an elementary school that is embarking
on an anti-bias program. The school wants to look at children's attitudes
toward diversity/bias before the start of this program, and then again at
the end
ofthe school year.Has anyone seen or used questionnaires or surveys to
assess children's attitudes around issues of diversity and bias?
