Hello everyone:

Welcome to EdEquity Dialogue with the Experts. Todays topic is on Education
and Immigrant Girls. The discussion will take place from Monday, February
5, to Friday, February 9. In addition to our distinguished panelists, we
are pleased to have the special participation of the Gender Healthy Schools
Project, which is based in the Cambridge and Boston Public Schools. We
welcome their, and your, active participation. The panelists for this
discussion are the following:

   Joyce Harris, Moderator, Director , Equity Center, Northwest Regional
   Educational Laboratory

   Norma Barquet, Associate Director, Programs for Education Opportunity,
   The University of Michigan

   Marta I. Cruz-Janzen, Associate Professor of Multicultural Education,
   Florida Atlantic University

   Dilys Schoorman, Assistant Professor of Multicultural and Global
   Education, Florida Atlantic University

   Bridging the Gaps Project Team, Madison Park Technical High School
   (Gender Healthy Schools Project) , Boston, MA

Format

To focus attention on this discussion, only messages related to Education
and Immigrant Girls will be posted to EDEQUITY from February 5 to February
9. Posting of all other messages will resume on Monday, February 12.

The Dialogue will begin with an opening statement from each of the
panelists posted to the list at 10:00 a.m.on Monday, February 5. You are
encouraged to react, comment , and ask questions. Please note that for this
dialogue, you can send in questions before hand to the EDEQUITY
administrator at edequity-admin@mail.edc.org and we will forward it to the
panelists for their response during the dialogue. Responses will be posted
throughout the week. At 4 p.m. on Friday, February 9, the panelists will
post their closing statements. The Dialogue will officially end at 5 p.m.
