This is a responce to a statement done by Ms.Tower on masculine and
feminine labeling:

I am appalled at your comments re: domestic violence and abuse. In less
than
5% of the cases are men the victims and the consequences are not nearly as
devastating for them e.g., women's third largest cause of death is domestic

abuse. If you have read any of the latest stats (try the bleak World Bank
Report 2000) in no country of the world, including the liberal Northern
European Countries, do women have equal status in economics, education,
politics or religious concerns. In education there has been a recent spate
of
"What about the boys?" concerns. Because women are catching up in some
areas,
(humanities and social sciences) yet are still underrepresented in many
sciences, doctoral education and elite schools such as MIT, it seems that
the
boys are now afraid of being left behind. I am not against everyone having
equal access to all the opportunities they deserve, but the tone of your
comments indicate that you feel that young women now have the upper hand.
And
as for punishment of women being less severe, then you obviously aren't
aware
of the horrible crimes against women worldwide and the fact that when they
commit the same crimes, they are often punished more severely. But then,
your
statements indicate that you are very out of touch with the latest stats
even
in the US. Not to be too political, but a woman was denied a cabinet post
for
helping another minority woman under the table. Yet, our president has been

arrested and jailed on a few occasions. Please madam, would you tell me
again
how women and girls are being given unfair advantage? This time, quote
statistics and facts, not rhetoric, sayings and T-shirt slogans. Thanks,

Christina Vogt
