The George Washington University's Graduate School of
Education and Human Development Immigrant Experience Summer
Institute 2001

The George Washington University's Graduate School of Education
and Human Development Immigrant Experience Summer Institute seeks
to draw upon the knowledge and experience of teachers, materials
creators and educational professionals working with culturally
and linguistically diverse immigrant students. A collaborative
handbook of successful ideas is being compiled for the Immigrant
Experience Summer Institute 2001, sponsored by the Summer and
Special Programs Office of The George Washington University and
hosted by the Graduate School of Education and Human Development.
This "Manual of Multicultural Projects and Plans for Diverse
Classrooms" will serve as a resource for educational
professionals working with immigrant students of all ages and for
teacher trainers.

If you would like to submit a lesson plan, classroom activity,
project or teacher training activity you authored that has been
successful and supports the "immigrant experience" theme, please
follow these guidelines:

Length: 1-3 pages

What to include:
-A minimum of: Preparation, Practice, Activity and any Follow
Up/Expansion of the lesson, activity or project

-How this was used in your classroom and why/how it was
successful (Any anecdotal support for the lesson is welcome!)

-Any information regarding how your plan, project or activity
could aid educational professionals working with immigrant
students

-Information on how this lesson relates to the immigrant
experience

-The following contact information:
    Your name
    Your school/organization affiliation (optional)
    Address and Phone Number
    E-mail

For those lesson plans, activities and projects that are
published, the author will receive a $50 honorarium.

Those interested, please submit lesson plans, activities or
project ideas by Monday, April 1st, on disk and as a hard copy
