[EDEQUITY]"invisibility" in a curriculum

Responding to statement done by "Chris Nelson" <cnelson@8j.net>
I would check out the total curriculum for the high school before coming
down too hard on one AP class. Sometimes the "diversity curriculum" is
in another grade level.

Seems to me that a "curriculum" that addresses diversity needs to be
evident
across the curriculum, as well as K-12. So much so that, ultimately, its
absence is the exception rather than its presence. Truth is, "diversity"
cannot be regarded as a curriculum. While "coming down too hard" on one
class
may not be the preferred strategy, an English class, AP or not, should be a

primary and natural source for the different voices and perspectives that
literature so readily offers. The "invisibility" in a curriculum such as
the
one that Julian was describing really is inexcusable, particularly at the
high school level when we should be preparing our students for the reality
of
increasingly diverse workplaces and communities.
