Hello EdEquity members:

Just dropping a line to let you all know that EdEquity is moving along. I
personally want to update you on what has been happening with the EdEquity
listserv.

First, I wanted to acknowledge all the participants for a wonderful
discussion on AP English classes. All your insights, recommendations and
resource sharing were wonderful. This discussion acknowledges our
continued efforts to advocate for a multicultural/diverse perspective in
literature, so that our children will be equipped to work in a diverse
workplace/world.

Second, I have not posted messages on EdEquity because I was out on
vacation for a couple of days to enjoy the spring season that has arrived
in New England. In addition, I attended a three day training on Generating
Expectations for Student Achievement (GESA). We had the honor of being
trained by the founder of GESA, Dolores (Dee) Grayson, PhD. The main goal
of GESA is to link classroom interactions and high expectations for all
student achievement. For more information on this wonderful training
please call Pamela R. Miller, Associate Director at GrayMill (909)-246-2106
to set up a workshop series.

Thirdly, I have been coordinating the panelist for our next dialogue, The
Voices of Girls, scheduled to be held April 23-27. The main goal of the
dialogue is to discuss topics that impact young women's educational
experiences such as how gender/technology influence career options and
trainings; what educational, cultural and legal barriers and support affect
them; and how girls and young women continue to strive for excellence no
matter what barriers are presented. So, I hope you join us buy suggesting
to colleagues that they subscribe to our listserv.

Finally, I will continue to post my weekly summary of resources and also
post sections of the EdEquity User's Guide in the format of most frequently
asked questions. So stay tuned.

Until next time, keep the messages coming.

Happy Spring!
