CONFERENCES:

1)April 24 Youth Conference in Chesterton, IN. Stepping Stones to Youth
Success Symposium
Featuring Dr. Daggett is president of the International Center for
Leadership in Education. Dr. Daggett is known worldwide for his efforts to
move the education system towards rigorous and relevant skills and
knowledge for all students. Dr. Daggett will speak on the issue of
character by tracing its erosion in our young people and more importantly
will key in on initiatives to
foster respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, and honesty that schools
can undertake to turn this crisis around. We invite you to take advantage

2)2001 FORUM ON EDUCATIONAL EQUITY
The Technology Connection Tuesday, July 24, 2001; 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

connections between equity, technology, and education. Developed in
conjunction with the American Association of University Women Educational
Foundation's annual Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Institute, the Forum on
Educational Equity showcases the latest research and best practices in
gender equitable education. The Forum provides an opportunity to network
with nationally prominent educators and meet the
Foundation's outstanding 2001-2002 Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Fellows.
The third annual Forum on Educational Equity will feature *Keynote speaker
Idit Harel, president and CEO of MaMaMedia, a media company and web site

for children. For 15 years, Harel has been at the forefront of educational
innovation designed to connect the power of the
computer with the child's potential.

Compaq
Computer Corporation and past president of the Society of Women Engineers.

amounts of up to $10,000 designed to help youth hockey organizations

to organizations that are inclusive of both girls and boys, the
economically

of initiatives and sectors----in ways that are easily readable and
catalytic. I like to see what others are doing. and funding. I try to
leverage the programs, achievement or models covered to whoever might be
eligible. There are grants here by technology funders for education,
literacy, digital divide, community, teaching the
math and science of technology, steppingstones to technology for children
with disabilities, women and economic development, environment,
conservation, on-line art & exhibitions, digital libraries, and
partnerships funding etc. At the site, you can subscribe on-line; have them

3) Women's Educational Media, an Academy-Award-winning production company,
wants to meet boys and girls in elementary and middle school who have been
involved in some kind of incident involving name-calling or bullying. We
are for real-life stories of students who have been taunted with anti-gay
names or harassed by other kids using words that make fun of or put down
others
because of the way they look, the color of their skin, their gender, the
language they speak, special physical or developmental needs, or any
other kind of difference. We are especially interested in stories where the
student who was targeted or other students found a way to respond
effectively.
