We are all consumers of popular media and we are consistently bombard with
Television programs, commercials, movies, popular music and magazines. I
believe the most venerable age of development is the teenage years, both
girls and boys are beginning to redefine themselves, they are determining
how and where they fit in the world. Thus, popular media is subtle with
persistent messages that shapes teens attitudes and expectations on how to
dress, how to be with in the cool crowd, what programs to watch on TV and
what is the latest music to listen too. For teens, media offers role
models, set standards of respect and recognition, defines gender roles, and
provides lessons in behavior and appearance, as well as, sets career
options.

How does media messages inspire or limit roles of females in pursuing
higher education and careers in technology?
