This message is in reference to the EdEquity Dialogue: The Voice of Girls,
April 23-May 2, 2001.
I was very interested in Sally Greene's posting about the all-girls and
all-boys high schools in Louisville. Sally, can you explain a little more
about how these high schools work? Are they public schools, charter
schools, or private schools? How many all-girl and all-boy high schools are
there? If they are public schools or charter schools, how does the school
district decide who goes there -- do students apply specifically to go to
the single sex school? What do the girls at the all-girls schools have to
do
in order to take the advanced math and science classes at the boys schools?
Do the girls have to take a long bus ride or miss out on other things at
school? Are there any other differences between the schools?

Thanks for sharing with us, Sally.
