[EDEQUITY]Games should rotate by gender

When I was in Nebraska, we had several OCR-filed complaints about
scheduling
of athletics events. In terms of your dialogue with the school, it may
help
to talk on 2 areas regarding scheduling: OCR calls them "prime times" and
"prime days." Your particular concern falls under "prime times" and the
"best slots" for competition should be alternated between the males and
females. As to the JV issue- what you describe (JV last; varsity first) is
quite common. It is within the play/competition rotation of who goes first
that the inequity may be present, not so much the JV/varsity order. Don't
be surprised if the school responds that they alternate the female/male
pattern for the varsity competition. They may not have done the JV
rotation
because they thought that changing the varsity rotation was enough. If
they
have changed the varsity to reflect equitable "prime time" competition,
compliment them on that. Then work from there. Good luck and hang in
there!

Something occurred to me last night as I sat and watched my
daughter's track meet. The boys always ran first, and the varsity always
ran before JV......
