This statement is part of the discussion on the EdEquity Dialogue with the
Experts on Technology and Equity, July 16-20, 2001.
Pew Internet life did a study on African Americans and a recent study on
Hispanics on the Internet. There is some data on African American women
listed here. I would use this in comparison to the numbers of all people
online to get a good picture of what the data mean.

This message is a respond to a question during the EdEquity Dialogue with
the Experts on Technology and Equity, July 16-20, 2001.Glad you enjoyed the
discussion. The only stats I have forAfrican-American females are as
follows:
Percentage of AP Computer Science Test Takers, 1999 African American women
were 10% of women taking the exam 83% of African American women scored a 1
on the exam, more than
twice the percentage for all women with this score (41%).-Source,
Tech-Savvy: Educating Girls in the New Computer Age, AAUW page 42 Great
book you can order on their web site if you haven't read it.Hope this is
helpful.Sorry this took so long but was out Thursday and Friday conducting
our two-day train-the-trainer WomenTech training which went great!!!!
I am happy to see so much dialogue on technology and gender
still happening!!!
