The fall season is just around the corner and there are two exiting online
discussion happening next week. In addition many conferences and
professional development opportunities in this weekly resources.

ONLINE PANEL DISCUSSIONS:
September 10-14, 2001 EdEquity Dialogue with the Experts Panel begins its
discussion on transition from school to careers. The career education
programs such as "school to work", vocational education and job trainings
can be the stepping stones for economic independence for many girls and
women. But the reality is that many female students face sex
discrimination in their career options to be successful. So join us in this
lively discussion. To subscribe to the Dialogue sending an e-mail to

September 10-28, 2001 YOUTH as LEADERS an online panel featuring 10 teens
from
community technology centers around the U.S.

One in a series of panels sponsored by the America Connects Consortium,
this features 10 teens selected as the first class of AT&T Young Leaders.
They're thinking about and seeking your ideas on:
* the contributions teens are making in their CTCs and communities (like
leading or assisting with cultural events, church groups, or mentoring
programs)
* the need to involve youth more in programs and decision making
* how the media represents youth
* the problem of unequal access to technology
* race and age discrimination
* the difference that teens can make in their communities and beyond
For this online panel, both YOUTH and ADULTS (such as community technology
professionals, youth workers, educators) are encouraged to participate.

Department of Vocational Teacher Preparation Search Re-Opened
The Department of Vocational Teacher Preparation invites applications
for a full-time, tenure track, 10-month position at the rank of
Assistant or Associate Professor.
Responsibilities: Teach, lead, recruit, and advise a diverse graduate
and undergraduate student population in a comprehensive, statewide,
vocational teacher education program.
Teaching experience in secondary and/or post-secondary institutions and
work experience in business/industry are required. The candidate must
demonstrate oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills,
organization skills, and leadership. Experience with on-line teaching
and learning is desirable. A doctorate in Vocational Education or
related field is desirable but not required. A masters degree in
Vocational Education or related field is required. Scholarly activity,
service to the university and excellent teaching is expected of this
professional. Starting date for this position is January 2002 or August
2002. Salary
is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. Send a letter
