(This messages arrived late to the EdEquity Dialogue on School to Careers
discussion from September 10-21, 2001.)

Nontraditional employment for women offers an opportunity to end
occupational segregation. Professional women have succeeded much better
than working class women in
breaking the glass ceiling. Doctors and lawyers are now over 25% women.
Working class women continue to be stuck on the concrete floor. It is only
through educating the people who influence young peoples career choices and

the young people themselves that this obvious and glaring inequity of
"men's"
and "women's" jobs will be changed.
