Generating Expectations for Student Achievement (GESA) Boston-based
Workshops
EDC is pleased to cosponsor two separate GESA workshops this fall.
Conducted by Dolores (Dee) Grayson, Ph.D., developer of the GESA program
and an educational leader in equity issues and honored for her nationwide
presentations, publications, and research for over 20 years, the workshops
are an opportunity for teachers and parents to attend one of the nation's
leading professional development resources for promoting unity in diversity
and the elimination of disparity in schools and society.

FOR TEACHERS
GESA Teacher Training, October 30-31, 2001, 9am-3pm
Workbook and registration fee: $270
The necessity of high expectations for all students has been identified
repeatedly as an essential factor for educational success at all levels.
GESA examines the five areas of disparity in the classroom and then
encourages teacher to utilize research based, proactive instructional
strategies and resources to eliminate the disparities and support high
expectations. Teachers will be equipped to use these strategies in their
classroom and to present GESA overviews to their peers.

FOR PARENTS
GESA for Parents, November 2, 2001, 9am-3pm Workbook: $25
Provides activities that increase learning outcomes which are determined by
the interaction between home variables and perceptions, expectations and
home influences as related to self-esteem and student success.
