Since this dialogue is on assessment, it may be worthwhile to discuss
assessment mechanisms that are not directly related to standardized tests.

As Christine Perez points out, female students receive higher grades than
male students at virtually every educational level. Does this fact imply
gender bias against male students in subjective grading by teachers? Is
there a relationship between the increased emphasis on classroom grades in
admission decisions (see the University of California system) and the
emerging gender gap in college attendance rates?
