MAINE'S CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK FOR MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE provides an
excellent model for integrating equity into standards-based science and
mathematics. MAINE'S CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK sets standards in four key areas:
1. Curriculum
2. Professional Development
3. School and Community
4. Equity

The Equity Standards section includes components addressing:
School, state and district policies
Partnerships and community outreach to parents, caregivers, and business
Curriculum, instructional materials and frameworks
Professional development
Assessment
Administration
Technology
School structure, school climate and classroom practice

Each component gives a statement of an equity standard, strategies for
implementing the standard and indicators for determining how a school or
district measures up.
MAINE'S CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK FOR MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE is an excellent
resource for those working to develop and implement standards-based
education.

Copies are available for $10.00 each from Maine Mathematics and Science
