Sorry about the interruption the computer had a mind of its own. Anyway
to get to the point I have been developing different ways of teaching
matheamtics. specifically I am designing a virtual environment to teach
visual thinking in integral calculus. The theme is a calculus carnival
and I have fudning to produce the first pavilion--Holomirrors. I believe
that this approach to learning and thinking about math will be more
intune with women's way of knowing (to coin a phrase). I have
incorporated much technology into my class so the students will also have
skills necwessary in the outside world. The students learn to make web
sites, html pages about matheamticians, graphing calculators, multimedia
software to show different dynamic concepts, interactive matlabs, list
serv's and MOOS. The vr is my last addition.

I would love the opportunity to have a class of women only to experiment
on how they preceive this environment. I requested a class of women only
at the college but it was met with much resistance. comments like it
would depreciate the worth of the diploma and handicap people do better
in integrated cloassrooms were two of the choice comments.
