Attn: Jeanne Clark --
while I know your intentions were good when you widely posted that
applications were available to AAUW, you may not have realized how many
people would just press the "r" key and respond to the address of the
group to which you had posted. As a result, the members of this group,
which recently went UNmoderated, are having our mailboxes FILL up with
messages.
I am sure you understand that most of us are VERY busy women (mostly) and
that we just can't have this kind of thing happen when folks don't follow
netiquette very closely, and /or create a situation which becomes VERY
inconvenient and timeconsuming for a LARGE number of people on NUMEROUS
groups to which the original message is posted (particularly since you
encourage reposting by anyone receiving it) This simply CANNOT continue
in my mailbox -- it is overwhelming.

***Thank you for any prompt remedy you can make at this time.

Mary Ann and others -- I too, and I suspect others of you, are as
and inconvenienced as I am about the many "subscribe" and "unsub"
messages
and now those numerous "send application" messages for AAUW --
I researched my folders and found the following message about
this list going unmoderated, which apparently is the reason for all this.
I am going to ask Gaea if she can go back on moderator mode for awhile or
use any moderator tricks she may know of, to stop this insanity (I use
this word only because LAST week a Scholastic list I subscribed to went
haywire and filled up listmembers mailboxes too -- hard to deal with in
the summer when we might not access our boxes as often).
This gives us an idea of how hard the job of moderator is, right Gaea?

(sorry, I chopped off the date -- but it was recently) Beginning sometime
yesterday, EDEQUITY became an unmoderated list for a 2 month trial period.
What this means is that I will no longer approve messages before they
appear on the list. However, the guidelines in the User's Guide still
apply. Personal messages, advertisements for products and services that
have nothing to do with education or equity, etc. are still inappropriate.
Please be considerate of others on the list and ask yourself if your
message is of general interest to EDEQUITY before you send it. I will
still be "slapping wrists" so to speak, but expect that you all will do
the same to keep the clutter off of your list, too. Gaea Honeycutt
