I am delighted someone is doing this area of research for a disertation.
I have worked with the high schools and community colleges in hawaii on
gender equity for the last eleven years, and have to many thoughts on
the topic to be contained in an e-mail.

The self-esteem issue is definately an foundation element, but is sort of
like trying to bottle fog--very hard to put a fence around. Perhaps a
related issue that is more observable is all the messages females get that
basically tell them how good they look to males is the most important
focus in life.

I have a nice little library of stuff in my office, and if you'e like to
come by and discuss topics or look through the materials I have, my
on-campus extension in 66194. Barbara Tavares
