******************NCRW has new executive director****************************

Mary Ellen Capek,a founding officer of the National Council for Research on
Women is leaving her post as executive director this fall, a post she has held
since 1989. During her time there, the Council has grown tremendously and now
has a network of 77 member centers and more than 5,000 affiliated individual and
organizational members dedicated to generating knnowledge and action women's
issues.

In addition to moving to a new role--as a visiting fellow at the Woodrow Wilson
School for Public and International Affairs at Princeton, she recently received
an award from a agroup affiliated with the Women Donors Network. The awaard is
to enable a woman leader a period time off for reflection and renewal (similar
to the MacArthur). Our thanks and Best wishes to Mary Ellen Capek in her new
adventure.

Linda Basch is the new executive director of the Council. Before coming to the
Council, she was the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of
Anthropology at Wagner College. In her many other positions, she also worked for
eight years as a researcher for the United Nations.
