I studied gender and the philosophy of education quite extensively and when I
look back the work that had the greatest effect on my thinking was Jane
Roland Martin's The Ideal of the Educated Women. This view is extraordinary
especially when compared with the "traditional" philosophy of education view
of, say, R.S. Peters. The books you mention that you are currently studying
are other ones I'd suggest. Every teacher should read Nel Noddings, I think.
Also, there is a Women and Philosophy section to the APA (Am. Philosophy
Ass.) in DC and I know they have a reading list. You might want to give them
a call. Christy
