I use these figures from the U.S. Department of Labor to demonstrate that
we haven't "solved" the gender equity issue yet.

Percentage of workers who were/are women, 1983 - 1996

Natural and life scientists.

1983, 25.5%
1990, 26.9%
1996, 29.7%

Mathematical and computer scientists.

1983, 30.0%
1990, 36.9%
1996, 30.7%

Engineers.

1983, 5.9%
1990, 8.0%
1996, 8.6%
