The New England Comprehensive Assistance Center at EDC is sponsoring a
workshop on Transient Student Populations. Presenters include Dr.
James Caradonio, Deputy Superintendent for Education/R&D at the
Worcester Public Schools, and Robert Levy, Director of the Eastern
Stream Center on Resources & Training (ESCORT) at the State University
of New York at Oneonta.

Date: December 4, 1997
Time: 10:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Place: Ramada Inn, Worcester, MA
Registration Deadline: November 25, 1997
Fee: $25 (includes continental breakfast, lunch, and all materials)

Worcester Public Schools is one of a very few districts in the country
that is actively addressing the issue of transient student
populations. They will be featured in the February 1998 edition of
NEA TODAY. Dr. Caradonio will present on district-wide strategies that
are being implemented at the district and school levels to ensure
continuity of educational programs for transient student populations.

ESCORT has been a technical assistance provider since 1989 in areas
such as school reform; identification, recruitment and services in
migrant education; parental involvement; drop-out prevention; and
early childhood education. Mr. Levy will be sharing his extensive
experience working with migrant populations, and will address the
education and social needs of transient families and strategies that
have been found effective with migrant student populations.
