I saw the recent post asking for examples of sexism in the schools before the
passage of Title 9.
This got me thinking that I really don't know what Title 9 says. I was around
when it was passed but I don't remember that it had any impact until much later,
(the 1990's) , and then only in reference to girls sports teams. What else is
included? What does the title say?
Well, here is an example of sexism in schools:
Girls were not allowed to take shop, only home economics, sewing and cooking.
In 1975 I was one of the first girls in my school to take wood shop and lawn
mower repair. Maybe that's an example of title 9, I don't know.
