Legality of single-sex education

Hello everyone:

One of WEEA's activities under the new contract is to host quarterly discussions
on EDEQUITY related to our three focus issues for this year: Title IX;
disabilities; and math, science and technology. Given the interest in the
subject of single sex education and Title IX, it seemed like a good issue to
launch the series. I have been working to schedule a few panelists to
contribute to the discussion, including Debbie Brake of the National Women's Law
Center.

For those of you who are new to the list, the way these discussions work is that
we set a specific time period (from several days up to a week). On the first
day, to begin the discussion, the panelists make opening statements which are
posted to the EDEQUITY list. Then anyone on the list can respond. The
panelists can also respond to--and ask questions of--each other. EDEQUITY has
attempted at least one other discussion of this kind in the past.
Unfortunately, the discussion was interrupted by an ill-timed crash of the
computer system (although I guess there never really is a good time for a
computer crash).

I'll get back to you as soon as plans for this event have been finalized.

Susan
