Just received a notice from AAUW on their recent meta-analysis of
research on single sex education. Their report is out- it's called,
"Separated by Sex: A Critical Look at Single-Sex Education for Girls" and
is available for ordering. A key finding of the report is that "qualities of a
good education foster student achievement regardless of whether girls
and boys learn separately or together" (quotation from press release).
The findings of this study deserve consideration, and there are several
which would help in our somewhat spirited discussion(s) of single sex
classes/schools. I'm sending for a copy of the study... :-)
